What Is Life Coaching?

Many people reach out to me saying, “I have no idea if you can help me, but here’s what I’m dealing with…” And you know what? That’s completely okay. You don’t have to have it all figured out, that’s what I’m here for.

At its core, life coaching is about helping you navigate personal challenges, build the habits and mindset needed for growth, and create a life that is truly fulfilling. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from coaching. Often, it’s about having someone by your side to process challenges, gain clarity, and stay aligned with your values and goals. Whether you’re looking to improve discipline, make a big life decision, or simply ensure you’re consistently moving forward, coaching provides the support and accountability to help you thrive.

About Me

I’m Jonathan Rood, a life coach with over 4,000 hours of one-on-one coaching experience since 2017. I’m passionate about helping people move beyond wishful thinking and into real, tangible progress. My approach isn’t just about motivation—it’s about creating practical, tailored steps that lead to meaningful results. Whether it’s improving discipline, making tough decisions, or aligning your life with your values, I help you build a clear, actionable plan and follow through on it.

I graduated from Victory Bible College in Tulsa, OK, where I met my incredible wife, Katelyn. We still live in Tulsa with our three boys—Luke, Jude, and James. I love spending quality time with my family, playing rough with the boys—which can sometimes end with an ice pack on someone’s forehead, shortly after my wife urges me to stop playing so rough.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t see your question listed here, please reach out, I’ll be glad to help and answer any questions!

1. How much does coaching cost?

If you’re price shopping for the cheapest possible price, I most likely won’t be a great fit for you. I’m certainly not the cheapest, however I can confidently say we’re reasonably priced. I won’t lock you into a 12 month agreement and ask for $10,000 upfront (this is a real thing).

We have a wide range of packages to help you find something that can fit in your budget, however there isn’t much benefit in discussing price until you know what you’re paying for. If you’re serious about getting your life on track, we’ll most likely be able to find you a package that will suit you best.

2. What's the difference between life coaching and therapy? How do I know which I need?

One of my favorite illustrations to help you understand the difference between a life coach and a therapist is the relationship between a physical therapist and a personal trainer. The therapist is there to help you recover from debilitating injuries and set you on the path to full recovery. After your recovery, the trainer is there to help you set new goals, hold you accountable, reach new records.

In short, life coaches don’t treat or diagnose mental illness. If you think you are struggling with emotional healing and mental disorders, please seek a qualified and licensed professional.

3. My current need isn't explicitly mentioned on here. Should I still reach out?

Absolutely. If something is out of the realm of my coaching, I will let you know upfront. It doesn’t benefit either party for me to put on a false front.

The principles of life coaching can be very beneficial to most situations, I encourage you to reach out and I might be able to help you connect the dots.

4. What makes you different from other life coaches?

My life coaching is centered around one core question: “What can I DO, right NOW, with what I HAVE?”

You make progress starting week 1. My coaching is focused on progress and helping you achieving it by creating a practical and specific plan week to week, holding you accountable to it, and reminding you of why this even matters to you to begin with.

5. Can you offer coaching over the phone/video calls?

Yes! Most of my coaching is over the phone or on video calls, whichever suits you best.
